Over the past few years Dale Fox and his team have built a small portfolio of luxury short term rental properties in Southern California. Looking for the next challenge, the team began searching last year for a small hotel to take the next step in their hospitality investments. After making offers on several properties Dale was able to strike a deal on an 11 room boutique hotel in a desirable area just south of downtown Palm Springs. The hotel , Colt Lodge, had undergone renovations just four years prior and had excellent bones, but it had been given a western cowboy themed makeover and lacked a cohesive design and brand. Two life size divers fashioned in neon remained on the property from its earlier days, and became the inspiration for the reimagined ‘Dive Hotel Palm Springs’. The Dive team got to work on the design for updates to the guest rooms, bathrooms and public spaces, taking cues from the sun drenched beach hotels of San Tropez in the 1960s. No electronic drawing files were available from the prior renovations so the designers reached out to Studio Desk for assistance in reconstructing a set of permit drawings for the new work. Working from old PDFs and exchanging markups between the Architect, Interior Designer, and Studio Desk, the drawings were developed and submitted for permit. The project is slated to begin construction in June with completion in August of 2019. Look for the new Dive Hotel Palm Springs coming this fall!
